Parallax Barrier displays work by displaying two
separate images super-imposed on top of one another. A
barrier is placed atop the LCD screen (eliminating the
need for polarized glasses) that blocks certain pixels
from reaching each eye. The result is a completely
separate image being sent to each of the viewer's left and
right eyes. Much like your everyday vision, your brain
receives two separate fields of view, one from your right
eye and one from your left. By calculating the differences
between the angles of inclination received from the two
images, the brain calculates and perceives depth
perception. By simultaneously recording a right and left
video channel and then utilizing a Parallax Barrier
display to send the respective video feeds to each eye
separately, we emulate what the brain perceives naturally
and one can view video with 3D depth. |
